Melanin Family Electric Roadtrip: Canada Edition is an open invitation — to come along, to feel something, and maybe to start planning your own version of yes.

I’m a Canadian mom, not for profit leader, educator, photographer and storyteller who has also spent years bringing BIPOC communities into the outdoors through my creative programs all across Canada.

I believe deeply in the power of outdoors to change how we see ourselves.

“I've wanted to do van life forever — but for a long time, I couldn't afford it. I'm a solo mom, a creative, a not for profit leader and a city dweller with no driveway. But this spring, I found a way. I tracked down a VW ID Buzz at a price I couldn't ignore, converted her into a campervan named Gerti, and said yes — to the trip, to my daughter, to the dream. Because I know she's young, she's game, and it's now or never.

I hope to show that adventurous, intentional living isn't reserved for a certain kind of person or a certain kind of bank account. I also aim to inspire BIPOC communities who rarely see themselves reflected in the van life and outdoor adventure space — to hear the voice calling them and go for it.
